General Settings

Changing the Game’s Language
Before anything else. The first time you decide to open the game, you might notice it’s standard language is Japanese. To change to english follow these simple steps:

Alternatively, the language menu can be accessed by pressing the [L] key

The game is currently translated into many languages, choose whichever one you prefer.
This guide will be based in English.
Remaining settings
The remaining settings are left to personal preference. Just take notice that the body opacity setting “Me Opacity” causes an ugly effect when using the action “Kissing”, so you might want to set it to 0.

Also, setting the game quality to “Medium” is ideal, as it doesn’t harm the performance (in comparison to “Low”) and looks as good as it gets, pretty much.

Controls
The game is completely controlled with the mouse (or touch, if you’re playing on mobile), with some possible commands and keys, related mostly to developer options.

Every action will be triggered with a left click.
Left clicking and dragging.
Or a right click to trigger automatic actions.
The buttons can be configured to some extent.

Story and Context

Lost Life has no clear story implemented into the game (as of now), but we do have descriptions and context given by the dev himself which allows us to at least understand what is going on.
What do we actually know?
Meet our main heroine, Tokiko:

Little is known about Tokiko’s background. This little girl has run away from home and is somehow taken in by our main character.
Now in the player’s care, lead a day-to-day life with her, meeting Tokiko at the doorstep on the first day, and consequently, always waiting inside for the player’s return.

UI and Gameplay Elements
Room
1 – The Feeling Gauge: It will be the measurement of how pleased and/or horny Tokiko is at any given time.
2 – Clicking on Tokiko will pan in on her, opening new options. Clothing change, wearing cat ears or proceeding to the first sex scene (Pillow Icon).
3 – The Clock: Allows the player to skip forward a period of time. This will change Tokiko’s stance (From laying down to sitting or vise versa) and also proceed to her sleeping position.
4 – The Cell Phone: Gives the player access to videos of the main scenarios and allows them to be beamed to the TV.
5 – Through the TV the player can select an active Channel (News – Cartoons – Porn).
By clicking the TV while a Tokiko’s video is playing, the player can access the “Free-Play mode”, which gives free access to every scene, clothing and event unlocked, without any repercussions in the main game. In the Free-Play mode, the player can also check if any scene, clothing or interaction is still missing or not unlocked.

Sex Scenarios
1 – The Stamina Meter displays how many action points the player has. The counter will slowly deplete itself and any action will accelerate the decrease. Orgasming will drain a huge quantity of points at once, up to a cap. Sex or masturbation will raise a white bar inside the meter and orgasm will happen once it’s filled.
*The amount of points is tied to the day counter. The more days pass, the more actions and orgasms can be executed.
2 – During the Sex Scenarios, depending on which action is being done to Tokiko, pink hearts or black skulls will be sent to the Feeling Gauge. As the gauge is filled by hearts, Tokiko will react better and become more accepting of the interactions. Completely filling the gauge will result in an orgasm and reset the counter to 75%.
Disliked actions will make Tokiko cry; the skulls will eventually crack the gauge and ultimately break it, if you go overboard. (A broken gauge signals a Bad End in the next scene).
3 – The Controller or the side of the screen, (depending on the scenario), allows the player to change the active channel on the TV.
4 – The Help Button will display all possible points of interest and interactive spots at any given scene where the button is available.

Systems and Mechanics
The way you treat your loli will shape your future
Pleasure and Pain
Currently, Lost Life is programmed around 2 hidden meters that determine everything in the game. We will call these, “Pleasure and Pain meters”
Every interaction the player has with Tokiko in the Sex Scenarios will result in some degree of influence to both meters. Although these meters are not accessible or visible, think of them as ever present while playing.
Good actions will consistently increase the pleasure meter. Bad actions will consistently increase the pain meter.
Once filled, either one will “reward” the player with their given aspect, hearts or skulls, and reset.

Touching or fondling Tokiko will raise the pleasure meter consistently and give hearts to fill the Feeling Gauge.
Being rough or penetrating without preparation will raise the pain meter and give skulls to crack and break the Feeling Gauge.

Only visible with the developer options, the Feeling Gauge has a counter that goes from 0 to 100 points and is directly linked to each and any heart you gain from the interactions.
*Feeling gained in the sleeping scenario counts as 2 points each.

The nuance of the system is that, at certain thresholds of “Feeling” or “Amount of hearts,” Tokiko will become progressively more open to actions, which would be disliked beforehand, and as you progress, the pain meter becomes less active, while the pleasure meter increases faster.
*The pain meter will always be active, with the only exception being while Tokiko is orgasming.
Skulls and Tear Drops

While filling the “Pain meter” causes skull bubbles to pop up, don’t panic! They’re actually the player’s friends.
With the exception of extremely rough actions while Tokiko is not yet in a good mood, the first time a skull bubble pops out, it’s more so a sign that, “Tokiko is not pleased with what the player is doing.” As long as the action is quickly interrupted, no tears will be shed, the Feeling Gauge won’t crack and Tear Drops will not be added to the main menu counter.

Hearts and Feeling Thresholds

Although every action increases the “Pleasure meter” to some extent, depending on certain thresholds, actions will accelerate the meter and give hearts faster.
Certain actions will always have bad results if done under a certain threshold.
In a general sense, the player can refer to these 3 main numbers:

Developer display used for reference, in legitimate play the numbers are not visible
These are the 3 main thresholds that open up the possibility for certain actions with reduced/no consequences. This is extra relevant in the sleeping scenario, but for now, just keep in mind that Tokiko’s reactions and openness only change significantly after these thresholds are met.

A special mention to:
85+ is the range where Tokiko’s mood is optimal for penetration. At 85 feeling and onwards, she will also begin touching herself until orgasm, as long as she has her legs open and nothing is blocking the access of her right arm. This is a good way to finish filling the gauge without spending Stamina.

Mood and Facial Expressions
Tokiko has dozens and dozens of facial expressions, and in a legitimate playthrough, this is how the player can read the “Mood”.
From her mouth, to frowning eyebrows, to squinting eyes, Tokiko will always “tell the player” how she’s feeling about whatever is being done. From disdain to pain, to interest and delight.
One sign that the player is not doing well, will be a negative expression with teary eyes. Pushing ahead will often cause tears to be shed and consequently cracks on the Feeling Gauge.
Smiles, blushing, moans and heavy breathing, Tokiko will respond to good actions and gradually go from disinterested to heavily involved.
Facial expressions will also be the player’s gauge to how close Tokiko is to waking up in the sleeping scenario.
Pay attention to her face and expressions, that way, pleasing this loli will be no trouble!

The “Horny Stat”

This element, added to the game post release, adds a huge breath of life to it, increasing the possibilities and amount of fun the player can have.

Going from 0 to 5, the “Horny Stat” influences not only how receptive Tokiko is to any interaction.

Gaining 1 level per orgasm caused, at a maximum of 2 levels per day, the stat stacks up until special events are triggered, determined by a progressively increasing chance.

At 0 Horny, Tokiko is at her standard state, with 0% chance of special events to be triggered, followed by:

Level 1: 15%
Level 2: 30%
Level 3: 45%
Level 4: 60%
Level 5: 100%

The “Special Events” influenced by this stat are, as of this patch:

* Catching Tokiko masturbating to porn on the TV when the player enters the room.
* Triggering the Cowgirl Scenario, after the conclusion of the initial scene (within some conditions)

The Horny Stat will be displayed in game by the growing horns showed above and will appear in 3 different varieties:

* Pink horns sprout whenever the player gives Tokiko a non-penetrative orgasm. (Fingering counts, but no sex).
* Purple horns signal that the “cap” for that day has been reached (2 levels), and any additional orgasm will not count for the stat on that day.
* If at any point the player has penetrative sex with Tokiko, the horns will turn White and the level will be frozen for that day, being subtracted by 4 levels for the following scenario and day.

Another unique property of the Horny Stat, is that it is not available from the get go. A set amount of conditions have to be met in order for it to start working and affecting the game.

As of this patch, these are the conditions to unlock the “Horny Stat” and trigger the special events:

* The Feeling Gauge (Heart Container) cannot be cracked.
* More than 5 days played.
* More than 100 piston penetrations. (Fast penetration option)
* Tokiko has orgasmed at least once through touching herself. (85+ feeling and legs open)

With all these conditions met, the stat should start stacking in the following day.

The TV Channels
More than mere decoration, the TV channels actually have ingame mechanics tied to it and are very relevant.
While the News Channel is active, both the player and Tokiko have reduced pleasure gain, reducing hearts pops for Tokiko, but also reducing the player’s orgasm meter progress.
While the Cartoons Channel is active, Tokiko’s pain meter will have reduced gains, effectively “soothing” her mood or allowing some actions to not trigger skull pops.
While the Porn Video is active, both the player and Tokiko have increased pleasure gain, accelerating Tokiko’s heart pops and the player’s orgasm meter.
*Additionally, the porn video increases Tokiko’s pain gain, which can influence her mood.

Cracked Container and Bad Ends

Currently, a set of actions will crack the heart or even break it right away, potentially even causing an instant Bad End.

These are:

Switching the TV channel to porn while Tokiko watches cartoons (depends on the stage of the game. It doesn’t happen anymore after a certain feeling threshold is met) – Cracks heart.

Waking Tokiko up in the room scenario. (Also dependent on stage and feeling) – Cracks heart.

Being too rough with her in any Sex scenario, penetrating or removing the penis from her before she has at least one orgasm. (Also trying to force Anal before loosening her up) – Cracks and potentially breaks the heart, causing Bad End 1 as soon as the next Scenario begins.

Manually forcing her down in the blowjob scenario for too long. – Cracks and eventually breaks the heart, causing Bad End 1 instantly.

Trying to touch her pussy in the Bathtub without giving her an orgasm in the previous Scenario. – Instantly breaks the heart and causes Bad End 2.

As of this patch, the only way to “heal” a cracked Feeling Gauge (Heart Container), is through the action of patting Tokiko’s head until the day ends by itself.
This action is possible in a couple of Scenarios, such as Laying down in the room, Blowjob scenario and Bathroom scenario.

If you are reading this guide, you possibly already fell prey to the Bad Endings, but in the case you haven’t, spoiler alert and warning. Skip otherwise.

Scenario guide

The Missionary Scenario

Opening with Tokiko lying on her back, in a defensive position (in early days), the player has to push away her arms and spread her legs in order to get access to the possible interactions.

Some interactions are locked until pieces of clothing are opened or removed.

In this position, the player can execute many interactions, from fondling, to fingering, to kissing, to penetrative sex.

Lifting Tokiko’s legs up, open up the possibility for anal interactions (Further discussed later).
* Manual activation requires 40 feeling, if her legs are spread open.
* With 75 feeling, she lifts it up by herself, by simply tapping her knees when she’s pantyless with legs closed.

Hints — Tokiko’s preferred interactions while in this scenario are:
* Fondling through panties. (The most consistent way to get feeling points at any threshold.)
* Kissing. – Requires lifting her head up. (She only starts liking it after 40 feeling threshold)
* Finger sucking. – Requires lifting her head up. (Only after 60 feeling threshold)

The Doggy-style Scenario

Starting with tokiko on all fours, the player can choose between 2 viewpoints (toggleable by clicking above her head).

All Interactions are locked until lifting her skirt or removing clothing, and readjusting her position, by lowering her back. (with the exception of the second point of view).

In these positions, the player can execute many interactions. From fondling Tokiko’s butt and side, to fingering and penetrating anally and vaginally.

Hints — Tokiko’s preferred interactions in this scenario are:
* Fondling butt. (Low feeling gain, but the only interaction that is always safe)
* Anal fingering. – Increases pain gain and may crack the heart if done with a low feeling threshold. Recommend only starting after 40 feeling, safer after 60. (Requirements for anal interactions explained next)
* If the player penetrates Tokiko in the 1st view and then removes both hands from her body, she will begin to move by herself. (As long as she has enough feeling points)

Anal Interactions

Surprisingly enough, Tokiko actually quite enjoys butt-play (often rewarding high feeling gain), though that comes with some caveats.

Available on the Missionary and Doggy-style scenarios (as of this patch), the anal interactions are a double edged sword.
Although giving high pleasure gain when feeling thresholds are high, these interactions always give a high pain gain simultaneously, and can quickly cause tears, cracks, and even bad ends if done improperly.

In any given scenario, if the player chooses to have anal play, first he has to “loosen Tokiko up”. This can be done by fingering for a couple of seconds.
(The anus will progressively open up and relax, and eventually the auto-animation will progress deeper and deeper, until the finger is completely going in.)
After that point, Tokiko’s anus will remain gaping and the player will be able to penetrate it.
(Trying to penetrate Tokiko before this is accomplished is impossible and will quickly make her cry, eventually breaking the heart container.)

The Blowjob Scenario

After concluding any of the “initial scenarios”, either by spending all the stamina, or clicking the “sleep” button prompt, that appears after ejaculating. The player wakes up to see Tokiko by his bed.

By clicking the button before the timer runs out, the player gains control and the scenario begins.

In this scenario, the feeling gauge achieved in the previous scenario will determine what interactions are available, and how Tokiko will react.

After certain thresholds, and depending on the mood which Tokiko had at the end of the previous scenario, the Blowjob scenario may start with Tokiko:
* In a dismissive position, fiddling with her phone.
* Masturbating the player.
* Giving a blowjob.
* Initiating the Cowgirl Scenario (Further explained later).

If the Scenario begins with Tokiko disinterested, the player can initiate the interactions by manually moving Tokiko’s head or, by patting her head, until she willingly holds the player’s penis. After that, stopping the patting interaction will lead her to continue by herself.

Note that the player is able to use interactions forcefully, though all of them have a high degree of pain gain and quickly cause tears, cracks and even Bad Ends. It’s recommended to only do them in short bursts, while with a high feeling count.

Hints:
* Spamming the penis shaped button on the very bottom of the screen (on the player’s belly), allows the player to hold back and resist from cumming, though it eventually becomes impossible to continue.
* Cumming inside Tokiko’s mouth will always drain 20 feeling points for the next day, no matter what.
* Patting Tokiko’s head in this scenario has a soothing effect that can heal heart cracks and improve her mood. (Required to leave the patting animation until the player falls asleep by itself)

The Cowgirl Scenario

After concluding any of the initial scenarios, Tokiko may wake the player up by forcefully taking a mounting position.
This chance is based on the Horny Stat, mentioned beforehand. (Catching Tokiko masturbating when entering the room is a sign that the scene will be triggered, if the conditions are met).

If triggered, this scenario will forcefully skip the Blowjob Scenario and the player will have no choice to avoid it.

In this scenario, the player can interact in many ways, such as:
Fondling, kissing, changing Tokiko’s position and penetrating.

Tokiko will initially begin by grinding and then positioning herself for penetration. If let be, she will take command and continue the interaction by herself, until the player orgasms and the stamina is depleted completely.

The scenario has 4 possible positions, 3 from which Tokiko will cycle automatically by herself, and 1 which only the player can trigger, by pushing her body back while she’s upright. All positions have variations and possible manual interactions, if the player chooses to gain control.

* Kissing is only possible while Tokiko is slumped over the player
* Penetration in this scenario also resets the horny stat

The Sleeping Scenario

Sometimes at random, while entering the room, or after skipping the time by using the clock on the wall, Tokiko will eventually be asleep.

The scenario is essentially identical to the Missionary Scenario, with the only exception that all feelings received will be doubled, and harsh actions don’t cause pain, but instead, wake Tokiko up.

The secret to keep her sleeping is to respect the 3 main thresholds and observe her reactions closely.
Watch for Tokiko’s face. She will go through a couple of phases, and when she is frowning her eyebrows, she’s ready to wake up, stop what you’re doing and wait till her mood resets.

Up to 30 feeling, she will wake up if touched in more than 1 spot for too long or penetrated.
After 50 feeling, the player can touch more than one spot, or finger Tokiko.
After 75 feeling, the player can penetrate without waking Tokiko up. (no pistons).

She will have orgasms and stay sleeping, as long as the player does not increase the speed or touch Tokiko too harshly.

* In early days, if the player wakes tokiko up by interacting with her in the sex scene (below a certain threshold of feeling), the heart will instantly break and a Bad End will ensue in the next scenario.

The Bathtub Scenario

Triggered by choosing the “Bathtub button” prompt, that shows up whenever the player cums, (and the stamina is not depleted completely), or by clicking at the bathroom door, when Tokiko is inside, (Only happens at night, as far as I’m aware of).

Available interactions are:
* Head patting, pussy fondling.
* After fondling Tokiko, she will also masturbate the player. (If requirements are met)
* After a while Tokiko will ride the player reverse cowgirl. (If requirements are met)

* Requirements:
In order to execute the interactions in this scene, without triggering a bad ending, a couple of requirements have to be met before entering the scene. Those are:
* At least 1 level of horny. (The player can only have sex with Tokiko beforehand if she is at level 5, as it will reset to level 1 on the next scene)
* Above 70 feeling. (Any amount above 70 will reset to 70 when the scene begins)

If the scene starts while the requirements are not met, Tokiko will dislike it, and Bad End 2 will be triggered.

*It’s possible to turn off the bathroom lights, but it only serves to annoy Tokiko. I could not find any other function for the action.

This section will be dedicated to the unlockable interactions and options that appear in the “Video Player”. Use it for reference, in case you have not triggered or seen an interaction listed.

Phone
Currently, (as of this patch), the phone allows 5 of the Scenarios. (The ones considered “completed”)
Missionary, Doggy, Blowjob, Cowgirl and Bathtub.
In order to unlock them, the player has to witness the Scenario completely at least once.

Here are the interactions listed for reference in a 100% completed file.
Clothing
Each piece is unlocked at random, by Tokiko wearing them each day.

The player can check pieces still locked by clicking the clothing menu in the left:

Each option is self-explanatory, Trigger the interactions while in normal play to have them unlocked in the “Free Play Mode”.
The “Change” option refers to changing Tokiko’s position (Lifting her legs up).
The Anal option only shows up if Tokiko is pantyless, and in the leg lifted position.
“X-Ray” option is possible.

Doggy

Like the Missionary position, Doggy has variations for vaginal and anal.
In the Doggy position, an additional clothing option is enabled for this scenario, the school bag “Randoseru”. To enable it in normal play, click on the bag beside Tokiko on the bed.

Tearless Walkthrough

This is a mini-walkthrough of how to unlock the horny stat the fastest way possible (By day 5,) without shedding a tear.
The conditions are pretty tight and heavily RNG reliant, but as long as the player has patience and tries a couple of times, it’s possible to replicate.

The requirements necessary to be achieved are:
* Reaching 100 pistons
* Getting Tokiko to orgasm at least once by herself
All of that, before finishing the 5th day.

Here is how I managed to execute this run:

* Day 1: Advance time (through the clock), until Tokiko is asleep, set TV to porn video.
The objective of day 1 is to reach as much feeling as possible, to create more leeway into day 2 and 3, which is the deal breaker in the run.
The way I achieved that is described in the Sleeping Scenario section of the guide. *(Currently, as of the last couple of patches, the sleeping scenario is broken and Tokiko won’t wake up by rubbing her through panties).
Watch Tokiko’s face and stop/continue touching her without waking her up until the stamina is depleted.
Ideally, it’s important to get to 30+ feeling before emptying the stamina, because after 30 feeling, Tokiko won’t wake up anymore by being rubbed through the panties. This allows for getting as much feeling as possible.
The player will know if they got a good day 1 if Tokiko gives away one or 2 feeling bubbles right away. (Feeling counts as 2 per bubble when she’s asleep). To be sure, you can count each feeling bubble she gives. The first day always starts at 22 feeling, so after 4 bubbles, it means the feeling should be at 30, and she won’t wake up anymore just by rubbing.
The most I got at day 1 was around 45-55 feeling, but the bubble frequency is random and heavily RNG. So get as much as possible and proceed to day 2.
The ideal day 1 ends with 50+ feeling (Starts day 2 with 30+). To know if you have the correct amount, count 14 feeling bubbles (x2 if she’s awake).

* Day 2: Advance time (through clock), until Tokiko is asleep, set TV to porn video.
Day 2. Same thing as day 1, Get as much feeling as possible.
It is possible to have Tokiko orgasm on day 2, but a lot of RNG is necessary, so aim for 80+ feeling, to start day 3 with as much headstart as possible.
If you manage to get her to orgasm on day 2, instantly penetrate her and fast piston to help reach the objective on day 5.

* Day 3: Advance time (through clock), until Tokiko is asleep, set TV to porn video.
If the player manages to execute day 2 perfectly, Tokiko will start day 3 way above 30 feeling, so it will be easy to reach 100 with some stamina left, this allows the player to penetrate her without falling asleep immediately. Use the opportunity to penetrate her a couple of moments after she starts orgasming and spam the fastest piston. This should give 30+ pistons. (After cumming, spam the arrow up as soon as it comes up again, so it starts pistoning right back before the scene ends).

* Day 4: Advance time (through clock), until Tokiko is asleep, set TV to porn video.
If everything went perfectly up to this point, on day 4, the amount of stamina will be enough to make Tokiko orgasm twice, before finishing the day. This is important, because the player will need as much initial feeling as possible going up into day 5.
The objective here is to make Tokiko orgasm once, then give her a couple of seconds to reset her state. After that, go back into rubbing through panties, (she’ll reset to 75 feeling,) and repeat the same process as day 3. Get her to orgasm one more time and immediately penetrate, then piston as much as possible.
At this point in my run, I had these stats, going into day 5:
Any amount above 70 pistons should be more than enough to conclude all the requirements on day 5, so we move into the final day of the run.

* Day 5: Approach Tokiko as normal, while she’s awake, then set TV to porn video as the scene begins.
Considering a good enough run, the player will start day 5 with more than enough initial feeling to get Tokiko open and willing. She will spread her legs just by tapping them and be in the mood right away.
The objective here is to rub her through panties until 85 feeling. [Picture for reference]. If the player is uncertain if she has 85 yet, go a good amount past the line and then stop touching her. If Tokiko doesn’t start touching herself after 10-15 seconds, go back to rubbing and try again, until she does.
After getting Tokiko to touch herself, leave her be until she completes having an orgasm by herself, and that will be the 1st requirement completed, (Tokiko orgasms by touching herself).
After giving her some time to rest, go back to rubbing and repeat the same as the days before. Get her to orgasm, penetrate and begin pistoning as much as possible.
With that, day 5 should end with the 2nd (100+ pistons) and 3rd requirement (More than 5 days played) also achieved, prompting a 6th day with Horny stat unlocked and stackable. The first possible day to unlock it, in the fastest manner possible.

In that way, with some luck (30% chance, after stacking horny twice) the player can trigger cowgirl on the 6th day, which is the quickest way possible of achieving that.

This walkthrough is completely stupid. Achieving it is hard and heavily reliant on RNG, but it’s a fun self-imposed challenge to anyone that wants to experience the game in this different and interesting manner.
It’s important to point out that the challenge has to be completed without cheating or dev-mode enabled, and no tears can be shed, or the run is invalidated.

Upon completing this challenge, the player is rewarded with the Title of: Elite Loli Gamer and is added to the global rank board of Ranked Loligame Players.

A couple of things that can help the player completing this challenge:

* The only interaction needed is rubbing pussy through panties, which gives feeling in the most consistent manner.
* The initial days are done while Tokiko is asleep because of the 2x bonus for feeling, and also because Tokiko will resist spreading her legs on the first days, depleting a huge amount of stamina. So, even though it’s much harder to reach the feeling thresholds necessary each day, it ends up being more consistent overall.
* If Tokiko wakes up on the first couple of days, the heart will crack and the player gets a bad ending, so immediately quit the game and open again to retry without having to erase the save file.
* Closing the game is also useful if the player feels like they won’t be able to achieve a necessary threshold in time. That way, it’s possible to retry the day, instead of starting all over again.
* Be aware to let the blowjob scene pass by, cumming inside Tokiko’s mouth depletes a huge amount of feeling, which can’t be recovered this early in the game, and it will ruin the run.
* The best way to touch Tokiko while asleep is to keep track of her face and stop when she arcs her eyes up. It’s possible to keep touching for 2 or so seconds after that, but it’s best to stop and give her some seconds, until she relaxes her face 2 or 3 stages, then go back to touching right away.
* The amount of feeling bubbles given is very random, so be ready to reset a lot and be patient.
* The amount of excess feeling when the day starts is calculated by the amount of feeling gained during the previous day divided by 4, while considering some amount you lose naturally by doing certain actions. (I think…)

Save File and Custom Color

The game’s save location for now is the Flash’s standard:

C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\FlashPlayer\#SharedObjects\6NU5R4F7\localhost

The file is always called HLB02_Core + the patch version

There isn’t a reason to share a save file, as flash saves are quite
easy to edit. Simply google “Save editor” or “Minerva save editor”
and change the values to your preference, they’re very obvious.

The clothing and accessories colors can be changed by altering a few lines in a text file inside the game’s folders, but I couldn’t for the love of me figure out how to translate common RGB values to the values the dev chose to represent colors.
Until someone figures that out, I changed a few colors manually by trial and error, mainly to fix the base cat ears color (to match Tokiko’s hair color) and fixed the skirt color in the cowgirl scenario (it looked green instead of the normal grayish color.)

Considerations and WIP

This guide is completed (for now). I might add a walkthrough guide for optimal play (tearless and unlocking everything in very few ingame days) in the future.

Head Canon and Theories

In the absence of official details and information, this area will be dedicated to my personal theories based on datamines or investigative work.

Measurement and Age

Based on autistic math, I compared Tokiko’s only standing image to the door (coincidently put right beside her). Based on standard door height and then comparing the numbers to Japanese average height by age and gender, we can safely assume that Tokiko should be around 9-10 yo and no taller than 135cm.
This would put Tokiko at the 4th or 5th year of Elementary School (Shogakko), which is also supported by the Randoseru worn by Tokiko.

Past and Motivations

Although the game never really gives the player any background information on Tokiko directly, there are some hints and details that can be gathered by observing some nuances in Tokiko’s behavior, and by considering the little context given.

Tokiko seems very independent and “detached”, always messing with her phone, almost ignoring the player completely, only acknowledging it when approached.

One detail datamined from an earlier version of the game, shows a “missing person’s report on the TV’s news channel.”

Although never implemented (as of the latest version), it corroborates the previously established canon in which Tokiko has run away from home, while adding in the context of – Intention.

If Tokiko had been kidnapped or taken away against her will, she would not be waiting for the player outside the house at the very first encounter, or patiently standing by inside the room afterwards.
This small detail actually tells a lot about the potential motivations for the girl’s home escape, further corroborated by an even smaller detail, which most players miss.

Tokiko is not a virgin in the very first encounter.

Though not some smoking gun evidence for my theories, the fact that Tokiko is not a virgin when she first meets the player, tells us that she has had sexual experiences before that point (duh).
Once combined with the fact that she ran away from home out of her own accord, indicates that there’s a real chance Tokiko was sexually abused at home, (causing a grudge against her family).

The pattern of detachment she shows, and the violent response she gives the player if treated harshly (Bad Ends), gives us a little insight on an abuse victim’s mindset.

Even though the canonical context was never developed thoroughly, it was implied that Tokiko is paying for her stay in the player’s home with sexual favours. She doesn’t seem eager (at first) or very open to it, but she still doesn’t run away or fight back. She understands what is happening from the very first meeting, and accepts it, (punishing the player, if they treat her in the same way that she has actively escaped from).

With this potential background story, the name “Lost Life” gets a whole new meaning.

While at the game’s first release, most people assumed that the name meant that we, the players, were the “Bad Guy” making Tokiko lose her life, (innocence, purity, etc).

In fact, as the title implies, her life had been lost even before the game began.

Although this doesn’t make the implied story any less dreadful, it also opens up the player to redemption. This little girl’s “Lost Life” is in your hands.

You can be like her previous abusers, while threading a line of not upsetting her past her breaking point.

Or you can protect that sweet smile.

Compensated Dating(?)

Curiously enough, the set of apps shown in the player’s phone gives us insight to more nuanced details.

In a blink of an eye, before the video player opens up automatically, the phone shows a set of applications, in between them, a chatting app which is inspired by the extremely popular japanese app “Line”.

The reference is very relevant, as Japan has had a real problem in recent times with children and teenagers using such apps to organize “compensated dating”.

Disgruntled teens, wanting to get some easy cash, contact random men through these apps and offer services that vary from “pretend dating” to giving company, to even sexual favors.

It’s not a stretch to assume that Tokiko, a phone savvy Japanese pre-teen, planning to run away from home, contacts the player seeking for refuge.
With the implied or overt promise of sexual favors, (something she is already used to, because of the previous abuse), the line (pun unintended) of contact between the 2 is made.

At the very first time the player gets back home (from work, I assume), Tokiko is waiting by the door, checking on her phone, only to notice the player’s arrival once you choose to enter the room.
After that point, every day, Tokiko is waiting inside, which would indicate that she gets a key and is now “living with the player”.
